Hello!

I’m Emma, it’s nice to meet you and thank you for supporting my beauty business!

I first qualified from Chesterfield college in 2010 after completing my BTEC National Diploma in Beauty Therapy sciences, this gave me fantastic foundations for my career as it included all the nitty gritty stuff like anatomy & physiology and nutrition which I later found linked in to many parts of beauty (It may have been hard work but, wow! It really did me some favours).

From there I started my beauty career at Hunters Bar, Ecclesall Road in Sheffield (for those of you who haven’t heard of it the Arctic Monkeys reference it a lot!), this was my first proper taste of the industry and really opened my eyes to the opportunities really on offer. Within 3 months I decided bigger was better and off I went to work at a rather well known spa.

Ragdale Hall was the second chapter of my beauty story, in my 6 years there I learned more than I could have ever hoped for, from expert skincare with Elemis, Decléor and Clarins, perfect manicure and pedicure techniques with Leighton Denny, O.P.I. and CND Shellac, beautiful tanning with fake bake and top class body treatments with Spa Find and Base Formula. I also spent time with their beauty shop, treatment booking team and front of house reception because what’s a bow without strings?

Working for L’Oreal was the next adventure where I worked the promotions nationally for both Decléor and Carita brands. This was an amazing role because no two days really were the same! I could be promoting a new launch in a huge spa one day, training a team of therapists the day after and helping a small salon grow their business the next.

Unfortunately lack of beauty sleep does take it’s toll, I missed a base and my own bed so back to Chesterfield I went! A small salon in the town centre became ‘home’ (well it was full time) where I re-discovered the therapist in me and my love for delivering great and personal treatments.

Which brings us to 2020 when I decided after 10 crazy years in the industry it’s time to put on my big girl pants and do this on my own, bring my skill, knowledge and experience to a new and exciting business., Sheffield Road was the first home for Skin and Tonic, 5 happy years of nurturing and growth led me to have the best clients in the world and really give me the opportunity to craft my trade and my brand.

2025… guess who’s back in town! The incredible (and very fancy) Autumn House gave me an opportunity to occupy a space upstairs allowing the salon to really grow, it’s time to build a team and I absolutely can’t wait!

So I welcome you with wide open arms to my little haven in the centre of Chesterfield…

Welcome to Skin and Tonic!

I am super excited to introduce myself, my name is Megan and I have been in the beauty industry for 7 years now!

After recently taking a short break to work as a dental nurse, I quickly realised just how much I missed doing what I love! So I am back and more passionate than ever.

Beauty has always been where my heart is and there is nothing more I love than making people feel confident and enhancing their natural beauty.

My most favourite treatment..? A good brow shape and tint - there’s nothing more satisfying than a fresh brow and how something so simple can make such a big difference.

When I’m not in the salon I love to explore new places, whether it’s planning my next holiday or looking for the best spots to eat (always taking recommendations..) I am also kept very busy by my puppy, Nora, who also loves a new spot for food and fuss.

I can’t wait to start beautifying you lovely lot and welcoming you to the wonderful Skin and Tonic!

The Truth Behind the Name

Wondering where the name came from?

Well it wouldn’t take a genius to work out I enjoy the odd gin from time to time but, there’s more to it than a love of gin.

Skin is my absolute passion, it’s your body’s biggest organ you know!
And its imperative we look after it, which is where I come in, with my tonics!

Lost?

Tonic is another name for a treatment, its a pick me up!

So there it is, the story behind the name. (Although, admittedly I did have a glass of G&T in my hand at the time I came up with it!)
